Kern Thompson Photography

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kern Thompson and I came into the world on July 21st 1984 on the sunny island of Trinidad and Tobago.  I’m a fashion, beauty and commercial photographer based in The Netherlands. People also know me as an entrepreneur and a general lover of all things beautiful.

In 2012 I started pursuing my dream. I believe my fashionable journey began the same way as most professional photographers start out: at first it was nothing more than a hobby. My passion for photography got really sparked when I saw wedding photographs from a friend on Facebook. To me he made them appear like art in a Sex and the City look and feel. I didn’t know that it was possible to do that with a camera. From that moment on I decided that I wanted to create art with a camera too.

Standing at the crossroads, I had to decide whether I was going to continue to dabble in photography as a hobby or if I wanted to seriously pursue it as a career. All I needed to know was how I could be more of an added value to other people. With that question in mind I went looking for ideas and stumbled on the work of my now favorite photographer Lara Jade. I sent her an email asking her for some information on how to be a professional ‘camera-artist’. To my surprise she replied almost instantly and gave me the best advice I ever had. She told me to ‘focus on quality and then the rest will follow’.

And so I did. Her words gave me just the inspiration I needed to take the plunge and take the chance.

During Pearl Event I will be photographing anyone who wants to capture their moment at the event.
